About This Organization
WRAL-TV, locally owned and operated by Capitol Broadcasting Company, is the NBC network affiliate in the Raleigh-Durham television market, the 2nd largest DMA in North Carolina and 25th largest in the U.S. Our combined reach (with sister station FOX 50-WRAZ) includes 1.1 million TV households and 2.7 million people within our DMA. Additionally, we reach 800,000 viewers outside of the DMA. The station's coverage area includes more than 20 counties in north central North Carolina, of which the population is varied. From young entrepreneurs and software gurus migrating to the Research Triangle for tech and biomedical startups, to fifth-generation farmers who have transitioned from tobacco to soybeans, WRAL's on-air and digital audience includes a wide spectrum of viewers and users. Alongside our traditional local news, WRAL creates short and long-form community programming across various platforms to include award-winning documentaries, podcasts, even a "good news" channel for Roku and other streaming devices. We also produce weekly programs on public affairs and education policy and original programs in partnership with local creators. A newsroom staff of about 150 produce the content that feeds 11 hours of daily news, weekly public affairs programming, 4 websites, 4 apps and our social media channels, connecting with our audience 24/7. WRAL's website, WRAL.com, is the most-visited local media outlet in North Carolina, according to Alexa.com. The site averages more than 6 million unique visitors, 42 million page views and 4 million view views a month, 75% of which are in North Carolina, based on data from Google Analytics. Close to half of all adults 18+ in the DMA visit WRAL.com at least once a month, according to Scarborough research.
