Ad Hoc Mentoring for Science Journalists from the Global South

The Open Notebook offers free, one-on-one remote mentoring on an ad hoc basis for aspiring, early-career, and mid-career journalists, with a focus on those who live in or are from regions in the Global South. The length and nature of these mentoring arrangements is variable depending on the mentees’ needs and circumstances. There is typically a waiting list for people who wish to participate in this program.

Mentorships are open to any science journalist or aspiring science journalist who would find individualized, one-on-one mentoring helpful and who lives in or is an immigrant from any country that is commonly considered part of the Global South. The Open Notebook will also occasionally consider requests from other people who are not from the Global South but who can demonstrate that they have faced higher-than-average barriers to entry into the field of science journalism.
