Sustainability Accelerator with Blue Engine and Collaborative Journalism Resource Hub

The sustainability accelerator is designed to coach collaboratives on building their own business goals for financial self-sufficiency. It is a year-long structured program that will include strategic review, goal-setting and practical implementation, followed by one-on-one coaching and cohort convenings.

Four journalism collaboratives will be selected to participate in 2026. The program will be led by experts from Blue Engine Collaborative, an organization focused on sustainability and business transformation efforts.

This is an intensive program that includes group and individual activities. Attendance to all activities is required. The program will include:

  • Two virtual workshops to help create a sustainability vision and implement SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound) goals over approximately 4 hours.
  • Quarterly convenings to share progress with the other participants of approximately 1 hour per call.
  • 20 hours of individual coaching over one year (usually biweekly, one hour calls)

The application deadline is Feb. 27, 2026. Collaboratives will be selected and notified by March 9, 2026.

The program will kick off with an in-person cohort pre-convening May 13 at the Collaborative Journalism Summit in Philadelphia. Travel stipends will be provided.
