United States Journalism Emergency Fund Application

What it offers: Emergency assistance for U.S.-based journalists whose reporting on politically charged events has exposed them to harm, risk, or crisis. Support may cover:

  • Replacing destroyed or stolen equipment and protective gear

  • Small grants for medical and psychological care related to threats or crises caused by one’s reporting

Who it’s for: U.S.-based staff and freelance journalists covering elections, protests, civil movements, and other polarized or volatile environments. Applicants must demonstrate financial need. (Student journalists are not eligible.)

Focus: Threat response, crisis recovery, safety-related expenses tied directly to professional reporting.
