Walton Family Foundation

Family led organization with three primary fields of focus: K-12 education, environmental conservation and the advancement of their home region of Arkansas/Mississippi Delta. Journalistic projects that fall under any of the aforementioned categories are eligible for funding. Monies are issued for content production and training & capacity building for reporters. Grants carry minimum content production requirements with word counts. Success is measured in page views and circulation of funded content. Digital analytics and impression tracking of websites, newsletters and social media platforms are also implemented. For training and capacity building grants there are minimum event requirements and success is predicated on attendance. WFF also attempts to support environmental journalism by covering open access publishing fees in order to remove paywalls from important research. As of 2018 the organization has a vested interest in funding social media advertising for grantees and journalistic beneficiaries.
