Alicia Patterson Foundation Fellowship

What it offers: Individual fellowships supporting in-depth reporting projects designed to improve the quality of U.S. print journalism. One additional fellow each year may be designated as the Cissy Patterson Fellow for a project focused on science or environmental journalism.

Who it’s for:

  • U.S. citizens who are full-time print journalists

  • Non-U.S. citizens working full time for U.S. print publications (in the U.S. or abroad)

  • Freelance print journalists

Focus: Independent reporting projects in print journalism. Science and environmental proposals are also eligible and may be selected for the Cissy Patterson designation.

Amount/value: Fellowship stipend (amount varies by year and project length).

Deadline: Annual (see foundation website for current cycle).

How to apply: Complete the Alicia Patterson Foundation application. No separate application is required for the Cissy Patterson Fellowship; eligible science and environmental proposals are considered automatically.
