Early-Career Fellowship Program

What it offers: A 12-month, part-time remote fellowship for early-career science journalists. Fellows work with a mentor to pitch, report, and write articles for publication at The Open Notebook, participate in cohort-based mentorship and Slack community activities, and receive career-development guidance.

Who it’s for: Early-career science journalists with fewer than three years of professional science writing experience (internships/student work excluded). Open to applicants worldwide with some training or experience writing for the general public. Applications and materials must be in English (translations accepted).

Focus: Reporting and writing for the general public on science topics, with hands-on mentorship and editorial experience.

Amount/value: $6,600 stipend.
