Gender Equality Grant

The Pulitzer Center’s Gender Equality Grant supports investigative and data-driven journalism projects focused on gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls worldwide. This opportunity is open to independent journalists, freelancers, staff reporters, and newsrooms in the U.S. and abroad.

  • Average grant size: $5,000 (projects of any scope and size considered).
  • Contractor costs (data researchers, designers, illustrators) may be included.
  • In exceptional cases, stipends for freelancers’ time may be considered.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit:

  • A project description (max 250 words).
  • A preliminary budget with cost breakdown.
  • A compelling distribution plan.
