RTDNF Fellowships

Since 1970, the RTDNA Foundation has awarded more than $1 million in scholarships and fellowships to over 600 emerging journalists. The Foundation, which serves as the educational arm of the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA), supports college students and early-career professionals pursuing excellence in broadcast and digital journalism.

Recipients have gone on to successful careers as reporters, anchors, news directors, educators, and even White House speechwriters.

What’s Offered

  • 13 scholarships and 3 fellowships awarded annually.

  • Each includes a financial award (varies by scholarship/fellowship).

  • Recipients receive free registration and travel support to attend RTDNA’s First Amendment Awards in Washington, D.C.

  • Fellows and scholars gain access to an influential journalism network and mentorship opportunities.

Eligibility

  • Scholarships: Open to full-time college sophomores, juniors, and seniors pursuing broadcast, radio, television, or digital journalism.

  • Fellowships: Open to professional journalists with fewer than 10 years of experience in broadcast or digital journalism.

  • Applicants must be in good academic standing (for student awards).

  • Applicants may apply for only one scholarship or fellowship opportunity. Multiple submissions will result in disqualification.
