Student Media Challenge

Launched in 2022, the Student Media Challenge builds on Solutions Journalism Network’s ongoing work with colleges and universities, as solutions journalism courses continue to expand at both undergraduate and graduate levels.

The program brings together eight journalism schools and student publications into a year-long cohort to produce solutions journalism on student mental health. Participating journalism schools and student publications will receive a $7,500 grant to pursue their reporting, along with training and support.
